In BC, to tow a trailer that weighs more than 4,600 kg, such as a 5th wheel or conventional trailer, and neither the trailer nor your towing vehicle has air brakes, you need:
A Class 1, 2 or 3 driver's license, or
A Class 4 or 5 license with an endorsement 20
If the vehicle is equipped with air-brakes you will need an endorsement 15 Air Brakes
To get an Air Brake endorsement, you must:
Take an ICBC-Approved Air Brake course and Pass the Air Brake knowledge test at your local ICBC Driver Sevice Centre
To get an endorsement 20, you must:
Pass the Class 3 knowledge test
Meet ICBC driver vision and medical exam to Class 3 standards
Pass a Class 3 road test using a 5th wheel or conventional trailer
All training will focus on the students wants and needs.
