Choosing a Driver Training School

What to look for when choosing a driver training school:

  • How long has the school been in operation

  • Instructor experience and qualifications.

  • Type of equipment used in training.

  • Does the school offer courses certified by the Federal Government?

  • Is the school’s main focus preparing the student for entry into the trucking industry, or are they only intent on getting the student ready to pass the road test

  • What is the length of the program or programs and how do the training hours breakout?

  • What is the course content of the programs?

  • What are class sizes?

  • How many students are in the truck?

  • What are the chances of acquiring a driving job after the course is complete, and, what are the chances of remaining within the industry a year later?

  • Does the school have solid relationships with local carriers that have hired its graduates in the past?
